Princess Hilda
Bold, brave and beautiful, Princess Hilda trains the soldiers and runs the stables and farms. As the second princess, Hilda will inherit a share of the kingdom of Kassel. Being shorter than her elder sister and her soldiers, she rides the largest horse in the kingdom and makes it clear she is in charge.
Hilda chafes against her father's inaction. He has been fascinated with Lady Lorelei since she arrived a year ago, and has stopped taking an interest in the kingdom. Hilda wants to fight. As far as she is concerned, she only needs to cut down the trees until they stop encroaching on the kingdom. If there is a witch out there, Hilda will lead the men against her. In Hilda's mind, enemies should be killed and war is the right and proper way of settling disputes.
Hilda loves her sister Emma and sees her as unskilled, inexperienced, and needing protection.
The events of the story will astound Hilda and lead her to question her beliefs.
