Soldier Willard

Soldier Willard is the leader of the soldiers in Kassel.

When a frog interrupts the royal family at dinner, Soldier Willard is determined to catch and execute him.

When Princess Emma wants to the frog to stay alive, Soldier Willard ignores her because he thinks he knows best about soldierly matters.

Soldier Hubert

Soldier Hubert was one of a team of soldiers charged with executing the frog who had insulted the royal family.  He didn't enjoy the task, he just wanted to finish it quickly.

He acted instinctively when he found himself slicing his sword down towards his princess.  Without his self-sacrifice, the story would have ended very differently.

Soldier Rolph

Soldier Rolph is a mature trusted soldier guarding the back gate alone for the youngest princess to come in late.

Soldier Rolph knows he should be formal but he is fond of the youngest princess.

Diners

People in Kassel are farmers, shepherds, bakers, millers, tanners, weavers and coopers and have many other skills.  They turn their hands to tasks as they are needed.

They eat together in the Great Hall and they love to sing the National Anthem of Kassel even though Princess Hilda leads them and she can't sing in tune.

People in Kassel like having a hard-working royal family.  Here they are looking surprised because the King allows a talking frog to sit at the top table.
